
Opened last 26th February, at the Gallery of the Espinho Parish Council, a photo exhibition portraying the theme of "Christmas, Light and Color ", which will be open until the 18th of March. The works displayed represent the dozens of participations in the fourth edition of a photography competition organized annually by Castros Iluminações Festivas, SA. The contest in question had its genesis in the intention of provoking a close and more accurate look at Portuguese urban centers, and the all the spaces of our everyday life, which gained a new dimension, more luminous and magical, with the Christmas lights.
The inauguration was marked by an award ceremony that distinguished the three best works. The third prize was assigned to António Marciano for the photograph "Arrows of Light in Rossio”, but the photographer could not be present at the event. In second place, with the work “Christmas trees”, was João Paulo Martins, whose award was presented by one of the administrators of Castros SA, Dr. Jorge Castro. “Lisbon Portal”, was the winning photo of this year, and Anabela Luís Dias was delighted to received the first prize from the hands of Dr. Leonor Fonseca, in representation of Espinho’s City Hall. Both winners highlighted the importance that the work of Castros SA has for them and others that live or visit the Lisbon downtown and other historical centers and ended their speeches by praising the initiative of the company.
Even before the end of the ceremony, it was up to Dr. António José Castro, also administrator of Castros, the responsibility to say a few words of encouragement as well as thanking the distinct guests present at the Parish of Espinho, the Castros "Alchemists" and all participants in this initiative which from year to year, has had a growing number of tenderers!
